The below article provides important requirements and expectations to facilitate a successful Menu Board Installation.

Placement Guidelines:

  • Visibility: Choose a location where the menu board is clearly visible to customers as they enter the restaurant. It should also be visible from all seating areas and the order counter.
  • Size: Make sure the menu board is large enough for customers to read from a distance. The font size and style should be legible and easy to read.
  • Lighting: Proper lighting is important to ensure the menu board is visible and easy to read. Make sure the lighting is bright enough and positioned to avoid glare or shadows.
  • Traffic Flow: Consider the flow of customer traffic and choose a location that is easily accessible without blocking walkways or causing congestion.
  • Safety: Avoid placing the menu board in a location where it could be a safety hazard. For example, do not place it where it could be bumped into or knocked over by customers or staff.

Understand Your local requirements

Be aware of any local regulations or requirements for installing and displaying a menu board in a commercial setting, such as size restrictions, mounting requirements, content requirements, placement guidelines, or any other potential legal requirements. Duggal does not provide any guidance on these matters.

During your Survey

A trained technician will visit your site to perform a detailed survey which includes taking measurements, inspecting the available power and data connections, and assessing the placement options for the menu boards. The designated point of contact will need to show the installation team where the menu boards should be placed, taking into consideration the visibility, traffic flow, and safety concerns. The installation team will then use this information to create a detailed installation plan, including a list of required equipment and materials, and a timeline for completing the installation.

In the event a Survey cannot be completed

If the site conditions are complex and require additional tools, equipment, or special access - an additional survey may be needed in order to complete.

Suitable Mounting Surfaces

When installing commercial VESA LCD mounts, it is important to choose wall materials that are strong and sturdy enough to support the weight of the mount and the monitor. Commercial walls must be plumb, flat, and free of damage and conflicting surface elements.

Suitable wall materials for installing commercial VESA LCD mounts includes:

  1. Concrete or Brick Walls: strong and ideal for installing LCD mounts
  2. Solid Wood Walls: strong and can support the weight of the mount and monitor
  3. Metal Stud Walls: commonly used in commercial buildings and can support the weight of the mount and monitor with appropriate hardware
  4. Drywall Walls: can be used, but make sure the mount is attached to the wall studs and use appropriate hardware specifically designed for drywall

Surfaces deemed unsuitable during survey or install will require remedy to be performed before installation can occur. Remedies may include the request for plywood blocking, additional supports, resurfacing, or other unforeseen methods.

Internet Connectivity

Stable internet connectivity is required for Menu Board service. Media players will be provided and connected to your network. Wired Ethernet connections are highly recommended and much more reliable than Wifi. If Wifi connection is the only available option, please have your access credentials available for technician review during both Survey and Installation. CMS.Duggal connectivity uses standard HTTP/HTTPS connections to our host server at https://CMS.Duggal.com. Please refer any network support questions to your it and web service provider.
